Samantha studied illustration and earned her BFA from Syracuse University. She went on to earn an MA in Art Education from Columbia University, Teachers College. Her work as an illustrator has been featured in various publications such as Glamour, Bust, Craft, Marie ClaireFaesthetic, Mankind, Parasol, Fashion 156, Blanket, Hyphen, and Kong, and she has worked with clients such as Vaute Couture, Victoria’s Secret, Johnson & Johnson, Saatchi & Saatchi, and St. Martin’s Press. Her work can also be seen on T-shirts, greeting cards, journal covers, plates, wall graphics, and cushions produced by clients such as Barnes & Noble, Hallmark, Galison, Te Neues, American Greetings, Shirt.Woot, 2k by Gingham, Chikara, ipop, Loxii, and Freddy & Ma.

Samantha has shown her fine art in group shows such as “Lady” at Charles Nolan and 20/10 at Gallery Hanahou. She also participated as a guest artist in Berlin-based Bilderklub’s daily drawing archive and Working Proof Gallery. Her work is available in online shops at times as well.

In 2007 Samantha started a blog called Maquette to feature her projects and ideas. It has grown to a platform presenting inspiring art and design from around the world. With 20,000 readers a month Maquette has garnered praise from sites such as Daily Candy, Real Simple online, Design*Sponge, Decor8, and Oh Joy, among others.

Samantha’s art has been featured in art and design books including Coolhunting by Marta Dominguez Riezu (Parramon Publishing) and Print and Pattern by Bowie Style (Lawrence King Publishing).

Samantha Hahn’s illustrations feature delicate pen work, dreamy colored inks and watercolor, and feminine subjects. She is inspired by vintage fashion photography, nature, and urban landscapes. She lives in Brooklyn with her book editor husband, 7 month old baby and elderly lady pitbull.
