Little announcements and a sneak peak at my new Etsy shop.

Fashion156
Little news, announcements, and links to share:

  1. A site and blog I adore, Orange Beautiful and it’s blog The Scoop posted about my patterns.
  2. I have some illustrations in the new issue of Fashion156. I’m so happy that they accompany Susie Bubble‘s writing.

Plus, a mini preview launch…my Etsy shop is up and running! I’m going to announce it more loudly later when I launch the new pattern section on my site I have not even told any of my most supportive blog friends. I’m finishing up a couple of designs for it.

YEAH! I can’t wait to share. I’ve been working my ass off and neglecting all chores to my husband/web master’s dismay. The pooch is giving me the cold shoulder too. It’ll be exciting to get that going though then I can try to make it up to all who I’ve been neglecting.

I made you a free downloadable Easter Card.

Easter card

It’s with my other free cards on flickr. I changed the name of the collection from “Free Valentine’s Cards” to “Free Art Cards” so that I can make more for other occassions and holidays. This one is the first in the bunch. Feel free to download and send to friends or print, and send (it’s 5X7) snail mail.

Hope you like! Happy Spring. Happy chocolate egg hunting.
xox,
Sam

**I just saw feeds coming in from Craft, Natalie of Craft and Coquette posted the card!! Yippee. I adore both.

Skinny LaMinx: Blog, Elle Decor SA, & Etsy shop. Plus my new patterns and Decor8’s post.

Skinny La Minx

Heather of the fabulous Skinny LaMinx blog does everything. She designs beautiful textiles for her own etsy shop (I want the tea towels and pillow above). She also blogs on Elle Decor SA. To top it all off she’s an illustrator. A regular ol’ Renaissance woman. If you are not already subscribed to Skinny La Minx, you should really check it out. Also, I have an insider tip that she’ll be adding a new tea towel design to her shop today, Thursday! Act fast and check it out!

On another note:

new prints
Holly of the famous Decor8 was nice enough to post my patterns with an open call to her readers to weigh in on the surface and pattern design industry. Their comments were so helpful. I have to go out now and buy like 20 books and I also have to keep working on my designs and perhaps seek out a rep. Who knows. It’ll be a long and interesting hall. Holly is so amazing. It’s bloggers like her that make an art/design community…that’s what it’s all about in my opinion. Here are a couple of designs I just made.

The Principles of Uncertainty by Maira Kalman. Plus, My new patterns.

Maira Kalman

Not long ago I posted my admiration of Maira Kalman’s work for the Strunk and White book: Elements of Style. Kalman has a new book out called The Principles of Uncertainty. I want to get it.

Perhaps I’ll order it from Amazon. You can too (hence the link).

I created a new Flickr collection for the patterns I’ve been working on. Here it is. Thank you so much Erin and Anna for the feedback so far, it’s so so valuable to me and so nice of you to give. Both Erin and Anna liked this one the best:

Feature in Foam Magazine and my illustrated MJM Organic Cosmetic labels.

MJM cosmetics
I made these labels for Mary Jo Matsumoto‘s new line of delectable all natural goods. The labels above are Vanilla Rose Sel De Mer and Rose Honey Lip Balm. Did I mention that they’re all natural? I love the balms, they’re so silky and soft. They make you smooooth. Here the labels are on their packages. Thanks for sending them over Mary Jo!

Foam Magazine did a piece on my work and daily illustration challenge. It’s a great magazine, makes me want to go to the beach and surf…also so lose about 30 pounds so I can wear a crochet bikini! (you can pick up the March issue at any store like Barnes and Noble and Borders or read it digitally, I’m on page 94). FOAM Magazine
